<turbo:content><![CDATA[<b>REACT-C19 project, which aimed to support Azerbaijan in rapidly scaling up essential capacities for COVID-19 readiness and response finished its work in designated hospitals of Baku and regions after a 3-month marathon.</b><br><br>The project covered 12 hospitals in 5 regions - Baku, Ganja, Shamkir, Agdash, and Goranboy in 4 sprints of approximately two weeks. Within the project, 1185 attendances of health workers in trainings were achieved in total in a variety of subjects including management of severe COVID patients, interpretation of COVID laboratory results, etc. The project facilitated the establishment of  Infection Control Committees in 5 hospitals, setting an example for others to follow.<br><br>The Hospital Readiness Checklist of WHO implemented from the onset as a component of monitoring and evaluation of hospitals resulted in significant improvements especially in strengthening infection prevention and control measures, management of patients, surveillance and incident management across a majority of hospitals in the project. The bottlenecks and barriers to improvement were reported systematically to authorities together with recommendations.  <br><br>In addition to supporting readiness in 12 hospitals, a Training Center was established within the New Clinic. Between 12-30 June, 119 healthcare workers participated in the trainings on how to protect themselves from COVID-19.<br><br>REACT-C19 project resulted in the strengthening of collaboration among WHO, Heydar Aliyev Foundation, State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance, TABIB and the Ministry of Health as well as other institutions such as Azerbaijan Medical University, Public Health, and Reform Center and Azerbaijan State Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education with special emphasis on building human resources capacity through targeted trainings.<br><br>As the REACT-C19 project closes, many of the project consultant doctors decided to stay in Azerbaijan for some more time to continue to support the country.<br><br>]]></turbo:content>

<turbo:content><![CDATA[<span lang="az-latin"><b>"The World Health Organization has recommended use of a medical mask. An amendment, suggested for the violation of requirements regarding use of medical mask has been discussed at the online meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Policy and State Building", member of the </b></span><b>Committee on Legal Policy and State Building Kamal Jafarov told BAKU.NEWS.<br></b><br>The project has been recommended for the plenary meeting of the Azerbaijani Parliament (Milli Majlis).<br><br>Note that according to the amendment, suggested to the Code of Administrative Offenses, physical entities will be fined in the amount of AZN 50, authoritative persons AZN 100, while legal entities AZN 200 due to violation of requirements, determined by relevant executive bodies regarding the use of individual means, protecting respiratory system, as well as non-prevention of violation of these requirements by authoritative persons during periods of anti-epidemics, sanitary-hygiene and quarantine regimes. Physical entities will be fined in the amount of AZN 100, authoritative persons AZN 200, while legal entities AZN 400 due to the recommitment of the offense by the reprimanded person from the date of the decision on the administrative reprimand comes into force until the end of the period of anti-epidemics, sanitary-hygiene and quarantine regimes.<br><br>K. Jafarov noted that he considers correct the necessity of use of medical mask: “Because some people don’t know they have virus in their body while being a virus carrier. In such a case, they may unknowingly infect other people as well. The main purpose of use of the medical mask is not to infect the surrounding people with the virus unknowingly. A number of opinions exist in the society telling that the medical mask doesn’t prevent spread of virus, and the expensive masks with special respirator should be used. But these opinions are wrong. The doctors think that even an ordinary medical mask reduces virus spreading risk by up to 90 percent. Therefore I request our citizens to comply with the decisions adopted by the Task Force under the Cabinet of Ministers for the sake of their personal health and the common welfare of the community”.<br>]]></turbo:content>

<turbo:content><![CDATA[<b>A part of the restrictions imposed in the framework of the special quarantine regime has been lifted, the Task Force under the Cabinet of Ministers told BAKU.NEWS.</b><br><br>A decision has been made regarding the lifting of a part of the restrictions imposed in the framework of the special quarantine regime from 00:00 on May 31, 2020:<br><br>- the requirement related to reduction of maximum number of employees at state agencies in Baku, Sumgait, Ganja, Lankaran cities and Absheron region has been lifted;<br>- the functioning of large trade centers and malls is resumed countrywide (except for functioning of children’s centers and other entertainment centers, cinema halls, public catering facilities under trade centers and malls);<br>- the organization of sport competitions held in the open air is permitted without participation of spectators;<br>- the on-site servicing of customers will be implemented from 08:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. at restaurants, cafes, tea houses, as well as all public catering facilities situated in Baku, Sumgait, Ganja, Lankaran cities and Absheron region (except for use of hookah equipment and massive festivities, parties by gathering together more than 10 people at all public catering facilities countrywide).<br>]]></turbo:content>

<turbo:content><![CDATA[<b>Armenia has confirmed 460 new COVID-19 cases over the past day, bringing the tally to 8,676, while seven more people died, BAKU.NEWS says, citing RIA Novosti.<br></b><br>On Thursday, the country reported <b>8,216</b> confirmed cases and <b>113</b> deaths. Armenia declared a state of emergency from March 16 to June 13 to combat the spread of coronavirus.<br><br>According to the Health Ministry of the country, so far<b>, 8,676</b> positive COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Armenia, <b>3,297</b> patients recovered, while <b>120</b> people died.<br><br>“5,214 patients receive treatment, and 56,042 tests have been conducted until today.” <br>]]></turbo:content>

<turbo:content><![CDATA[<b>The number of people who recovered from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has risen to 2,508,291 worldwide.<br></b><br>The recovery rate is growing up in all countries, BAKU.NEWS says citing foreign media.<br><br>The most recoveries are in the US, with a total count of<b> 490,130</b>. Spain is next on the list (<b>196,958</b>), which is followed by Brazil (<b>166,647</b>).<br><br>The number of people cured of the virus is <b>162,800</b> in Germany, <b>150,993</b> in Russia, <b>147,101</b> in Italy, <b>122,793</b> in Turkey, <b>111,176</b> in Iran, <b>78,288</b> in China and <b>67, 753</b> in India.<br><br>The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) emerged in late 2019 in China’s Hubei province, and the virus has spread to 212 countries and territories since then.<br><br>To date, COVID-19 cases surpassed 5,909,000 globally, resulting in more than over 362,000 deaths.<br><br>On February 11, the WHO officially named the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) as COVID-19, and on March 11, declared it a pandemic.]]></turbo:content>

<turbo:content><![CDATA[<b>191 more cases of coronavirus infection have been recorded in Azerbaijan, 125 people have been recovered and discharged from the hospital, the Task Force under the Cabinet of Ministers told BAKU.NEWS.<br></b><br>2 patients -  born in1954, 1956 have died.<br><br>The overall confirmed cases in Azerbaijan have reached 4759 with 3022 recoveries and 56 deaths, while the treatment of 1681 others is underway in the specialized hospitals.<br><br>53 of the infected are in a severe and  62 in a moderate-to-severe condition, while the health of others is stable.<br><br>A total of 284.669 coronavirus tests have been conducted so far.<br>]]></turbo:content>

<turbo:content><![CDATA[<b>Due to the attention and care of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, targeted measures are being taken to improve service, social and living conditions as well as to preserve the health of the military personnel of the Azerbaijan Army, the material and technical facilities of military units is being strengthened, and a military infrastructure meeting modern standards is being created, the Ministry of Defence told BAKU.NEWS.<br></b><br>The opening ceremony of the third medical building of the Main Clinical Hospital of the Armed Forces was held as a continuation of construction work carried out in military medical institutions.<br><br>The Minister of Defense, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, and the leadership of the ministry taking part in the event got acquainted with the conditions created in the commissioned medical building.<br><br>Major General Natig Aliyev, the Chief of the Main Medical Department of the Ministry of Defense, reported to the Minister of Defense that the total area of the medical building, consisting of three floors and one basement, is 4000 square meters. There are dental, ophthalmological and manipulation rooms, blood-sampling room, duty doctor room, oxygen therapy room, resuscitation, disinfection, and sterilization departments, as well as other office and administrative premises, a laboratory, a canteen, a boiler facility, laundry, and a gym intended for patient rehabilitation.<br>It was noted that all conditions were created for the treatment of servicemen in the department provided with medical equipment manufactured by leading countries of the world.<br><br>The Minister of Defense getting acquainted with the conditions created in the medical building, assigned relevant tasks for the leadership of the Main Medical Department to improve the medical service.<br><div style="text-align:center;"><iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/nf_iUNVbLik?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe></div><br>]]></turbo:content>

<turbo:content><![CDATA[<b>Another 71 patients infected with a new coronavirus infection died in Moscow over the past day, the total number of deaths reached 2,254, an official with Moscow’s coronavirus response headquarters told reporters on Thursday, BAKU.NEWS reports citing TASS.<br></b><br>"71 patients who were diagnosed with pneumonia and tested positive for coronavirus infection died in Moscow," the official said.<br><br>At present, there are 101,802 infected patients in the capital. However, the situation in the city has been improving lately. In particular, the number of discharged patients in Moscow for almost the second day in a row exceeds the number of new infections per day almost three times. On May 27, it was reported that 5,839 people were discharged over the last day, and the number of newly detected cases of infection was 2,140. In total, 67,458 infected people recovered during the pandemic. A total of 2,254 patients with confirmed coronavirus infection died in the capital.<br><br>To date, a total of 370,680 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Russia, with 142,208 patients having recovered from the disease. Russia’s latest data indicates 3,968 fatalities nationwide. Earlier, the Russian government set up an Internet hotline to keep the public updated on the coronavirus situation.<br>]]></turbo:content>

<turbo:content><![CDATA[<b>Mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin has issued a decree to extend the self-isolation regime in Moscow until June 14 in the context of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, BAKU.NEWS says.</b><br><br>Digital work passes for transport trips will be renewed automatically. The second stage of easing restrictions begins in the capital from June 1, which states that residents of the city, including the elderly over 65 years old and citizens with chronic diseases, can leave their homes for walks and sports;<br><br>City parks and green areas, (except for Zaryadye, children's and sports grounds), stadiums and other sports facilities for training members of Moscow and Russia, will be opened. Multi-service centers, dry-cleaning reception points, laundries, workshops for repairing shoes and clothing, and providing other household services that do not require long-term contact between employees and customers will resume working. The volume of planned medical care will be increased (about 5 thousand beds that previously repurposed for the treatment of COVID-19 will return to regular operation).<br><br>"The long-awaited second stage of easing restrictions has become possible because the decline in the incidence of coronavirus has become stable.
