"At present, we are working on the installation of US-made doppler radars," Director of the National Department of Hydrometeorology of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Umayra Tagiyeva said at a briefing.
According to her, they plan to install one radar in Shamakhi, and another in Goygol. "Before the equipment is put into operation, the specialists will attend a month of training. Following the training course, the radars will be commissioned in the first quarter of next year."
According to the director, through these radars, they can frequently update the weather forecast during the day. According to the director, the radials of the radars are quite broad.
"Within the framework of public investment, it will be possible to install another radar in Sheki in the coming years. The radar purchase process will continue until 2023. These radars will promote a more accurate tracking of air masses penetrating from Azerbaijan into neighboring countries and the preparation of more timely information. This factor was also taken into account when selecting the areas," Tagiyeva said.
