The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has conveyed congratulations to Turkey on the occasion of Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day.
“Today marks the 101st anniversary of the founder of the Republic of Turkey Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s arrival in Samsun to start national struggle movement. Wishing you anniversaries full of health and peace, Happy May 19, Commemoration of Ataturk, Youth and Sports Day, brotherly Turkey!” the MFA posted on Twitter.
Atatürk landed in Samsun at the start of political and military resistance against the allied partitioning of the Ottoman Empire after its defeat in the First World War. The independence war ended on October 29, 1923, and Atatürk dedicated May 19 to the country’s youth.
